Use this checklist to review the key elements of your commercial electricity or gas invoice. If you have concerns about any of the items below, contact your supplier or request a free bill review from Free Energy Help Ltd.
Invoice basics
Check the billing period shown on the invoice
Confirm whether readings are actual or estimated
Verify the MPAN (electricity) or MPRN (gas) matches your supply point
Confirm the account name and address are correct
Tariff and charges
Check the unit rate against your contract terms
Review the standing charge applied
Check for any additional charges or adjustments
Review the payment terms and due date
Check whether any direct debit amounts have changed
Tax and levies
Confirm the correct rate of VAT has been applied
Check whether Climate Change Levy (CCL) has been applied
Consider whether any CCL exemptions or reliefs may be applicable
Consumption
Compare consumption with previous billing periods
Check for any significant unexplained changes in usage
Consider whether operational changes may explain any differences
